For many of us, our pets, particularly our dogs, are a part of our family, and a member we wish to enjoy our leisure time with. Most will thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to explore new, exciting surroundings and smells. Although the introduction of the Pet Travel Scheme, which allowed pets (with a passport) to be taken abroad to certain countries and avoid the usual quarantine on return has made travelling with your pet easier, for many owners this is just too much to make for a relaxing holiday.
Instead, you can opt to take your pet with you one a British holiday. Saving on kennel fees (although your dog might be like mine, loving every second of her doggy accommodation and romping joyfully round her favourite kennels) as well as meaning you don’t have to be parted from your beloved pet, pet friendly accommodation is available throughout the UK. Some also accept cats or more exotic animals, although it is wise to check before turning up with your pet duck!
Pet friendly accommodation is usually of the cottage or chalet variety, meaning you shouldn’t have to worry too much about your pet interacting with other pets, but do check where they will be able to sleep and exercise, and it is worth asking if the garden or outside area is secure.
